Budget meet 2011-2012, held at
Vedic Village,a sublime retreat
set over 150 acres of sprawling fertile farmland in Kolkata was
one of the most productive meetings held. The team of 18,
including the Branch Heads from all the 8 branches across the
country along with Corporate Office Team made the meet a grand
success with Ajai Joseph (CEO & Chairman) and Hariharan B
(Executive Director) heading it. The CSL Vertical Heads who met on
7th April 2011 continued their discussion till 9th
April 2011 to clear the budget for the financial year 2011- 2012.
The meet started off with an
inaugural function attended by all the staff of Kolkata Office, to
congratulate the performers of the year 2010-2011 and the
employees who completed 10 years of service. With Tapan Ghosh, the
Regional Manager extending a warm welcome to all, we had Mr. Ajai
Joseph, Chairman & CEO addressing the gathering. He spoke of
people who are the strength of any organization and stressed on
the need to groom the future Managers in CSL. Mr. Ajai also added
on stating the need of the hour is to stay ahead of competition
and urged the branches who could not achieve the Budgets to re-organise
their strategies for the current Financial Year. Managing
Director – Mrs. Shiney Blossom Joseph handed over the momento and
certificates to the staff who served a decade in the company.
The Star Performer Award was
won by Mr. N SunilKumar, Manager Overseas Business Development for
the highest contribution to the company’s bottom line followed by
the Achiever Award won by Mr. Thiyagarajan S, Branch Manager of
CSL Tuticorin, for overshooting his targets for last year. The
evening function ended up with a dinner and an interactive time
with the Kolkata staff members.
The following day each branch
has come up with their presentation that included their Goals for
the coming 3 years and strategic plans of achieving it along with
the detailed budget for the next financial year. The presentations
gave a complete overview of the market trends, share in each of
the markets as well a close update on the competitors. The meeting
continued with an open discussion that decided on the plans and
also on new policies for the coming year. The meet ended the next
day with a visit to the Kolkata Branch Office and a tour of the
‘City of Joy’. An official dinner was hosted on a floating
restaurant attended by the entire Kolkata team and some of our
prestigious clients who have had a long term business relationship
with CSL.
PM Dedicates Vallarpadam Container Terminal to our Nation
Vallarpadam Container Terminal is India's only International
Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT). This facility is located
at Vallarpadam Island near Kochi. To start with, the first phase
of the Terminal will have a capacity of 1 million TEUs
(twenty-foot equivalent unit) with 600 meters of quay, 6
Super-Post Panamax Quay Cranes and an on-dock railhead serviced by
15 rail mounted gantry crane. Vallarpadam Container Terminal is
country's largest single-operator container terminal.
"The absence of a global hub port and the lack of transshipment
facilities had put our trade at a disadvantage. With the building
of this terminal our exporters can now access mainline container
vessels calling at one of the well-located parts of India” said
our Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as he inaugurated India's First
International Container Transshipment Terminal on Friday, 11th
February 2011, in the presence of Union Ministers, State
Ministers, top representatives of Dubai Port World, and other
leaders and bureaucrats.
The terminal also opens up immense potential for allied industries
like container freight stations, inland container depots,
port-based SEZs, cargo through inland waterways, logistics and
warehousing centers.
CSL India undertakes a Hydropower project from Shanghai to
Siurikhola in Nepal.
Siurikhola is at the base
of Mt. Annapurna 12000 ft high and 130 km from Indo-Nepal border.The cargo was unloaded at
Besisahar and transported to this site. The last 27 km to the site
has no road hence the path has been excavated only for transporting
the cargo. The cargo had to be pushed and pulled by excavators
during this last stretch. The cargo wt was 170 MT and 500 cbm in vol.It consists of 2 motors
16T each and a crane of ht 34 Ft long and weighed 5T.

Consolidated
Shipping Line celebrated its 10 years of being at the Soma Kerala
Palace resort
set on an island on the Vembanad Lake in Chempu, Cochin which is at
a distance of 4 kms from Vaikkom town. The beautiful
location truly contributed to the occasion thereby elevating our
spirits for the whole day.
The function started around 9:00 in the morning with a prayer song
continued by lamp lighting and then the function was felicitated
by Mr.Ajai Joseph(CEO & Chairman), Ms.Shiny Blossom
Joseph(Managing Director), Mr.T.A.Venkitachalam(Charted
Accountant), Mr.Varghese V(Insurance Consultant),
Mr.B.Hariharan(Executive Director) and Mr.P.V.Varghese(GM-
Accounts). Awards were presented in recognition of dedicated
service with CSL, for all the family members of CSL who have
completed 5 years of service and also to Chennai and Tuticorin
branches for their Outstanding Performance during FY 2009-10’. A
Top Achiever Award, which included a Trip to UK with
Family, was presented to Mr.Sunil Kumar (Chennai Branch
Manager) for his outstanding performance.
After a Lunch Buffet, everyone was entertained with Kalaripayattu,
the martial art of Kerala. The backdrop of the lilting backwater
and the swaying palms with Kalaripayattu made the setting picture
perfect. Later in the evening, the CEO, Mr.Ajai Joseph presented a
presentation which detailed the outline of the growth of the firm
which was continued by Vote of Thanks by Ms.Annie Jacob(HR
Manager). The function ended up with a DJ Party after dinner.
